Listen to a TV show or movie at work
While taking a quick check on bloglines to see what is new, I noticed this cool post at lifehack.org
Listen to a TV show or movie at work – lifehack.org
It is a pretty cool idea, I done this in the past by bringing a dvd to work and minimizing the screen. Of course I always tend to bring the movie window to the front and watching. This way, no more worries, no screen to watch. Right now I’m listening to Disney’s Alice in Wonderland.
Turning signals
You always hear complaints about drivers not signaling in Miami. I use to stonrly agree with that. However over the last few months while becoming a regular highway driver, I've noticed that the bulk of drivers actually do signal. On that note I've also noticed that yes the average driver will attempt to block a car if it is signalling. I personally try to let signalling cars in. I feel that overall my drive is quicker and more enjoyable if I let cars in rather than have them cut me off.
Ghetto dishwasher repair
Well we awoke this morning to a non-functioning dishwasher. After frustration I opened the front panel and noticed a very old school on-off switch… Basically a mechanical lever flipping a light switch… Anyways I simply assumed that there was a short somewhere and resided to calling an expert. Upon putting the door back together I notice the lack of a clicking sound when latched the door shut. Hence the ghetto repair… atleast the machine is running.
Songbird update
Previously I posted on the subject of installing Songbird on Ubuntu. Today, Songbird 0.2.5 was announced. I figured I’d need to go and once again run the script to install everything, probably some un-install and then some re-install process. To my surprise when I downloaded and ran the latest version of the install script, it actually stopped in its tracks and said that since I had already installed Songbird, I could use the built-in update feature. How nice of the script to check for me.
Also a note about the new version, it looks to have better iPod support and it included a new add-on for the Hype Machine, I don’t know how it will work but I’ve been going to the Hype Machine for sometime now for new music.
Podcast test!
Well this is a test of Gabcast, just seeing if it works and if it is useful. I was also looking at using hipcast but since that service is not free…. anyways… we might also just try using my box.net account as well. Lauren sat in on a seminar at MDC today that discussed podcasting and then she called me saying that she wanted to podcasts to our wedding blog (link). Well good ol’ me, I’ve just spent the last hour playing with podcasting. The only downside I see from gabcast is that I can’t send video, but I think I can via MMS to the blog I’ll play with that idea later. Enough toying around I need to get back to my thesis work.
